SIUC sets fall commencement ceremonies

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois University Carbondale will hold fall commencement ceremonies at 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at the SIU Arena.

More than 2,000 students will walk across the stage, including 1,771 candidates for undergraduate degrees, eight candidates for law degrees, 259 candidates for master's degrees and 41 doctoral candidates.

The morning ceremony will recognize candidates from the Graduate School, School of Law and the colleges of science, liberal arts, and mass communications and media arts. The afternoon ceremony will recognize candidates from the agricultural sciences, applied sciences and arts, business and administration, education and human services, and engineering colleges.

Creating and supporting traditions that foster a lifelong attachment to the University and building relationships among the University, its students and graduates are among the goals of Southern at 150: Building Excellence Through Commitment, the blueprint the University is following as it approaches its 150th anniversary in 2019.
