Dance company sets fall concert at SIUC
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The Southern Illinois Dance Company presents its fall concert "Dance Expresso," set for 8 p.m., Friday, Dec. 1 and 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 2 in Furr Auditorium at Pulliam Hall on the Southern Illinois University Carbondale campus.
Under the direction of SIUC Donna M. Wilson, associate professor of dance, the performers will showcase various styles of dance including modern, jazz and ballet.
The show also will feature choreography by faculty and students of SIUC's Department of Kinesiology. Guests will include representatives of the Susan Barnes Dance Company and Southeast Missouri State University.
Admission is $8 for adults, $5 for students and senior citizens and $4 for children 15 and under. Organizers advise parental discretion because of strong language in one piece of music.
Coordinating and expanding major cultural outreach programs are among the goals of Southern at 150: Building Excellence Through Commitment, the blueprint for the development of the University by the time it celebrates its 150th anniversary in 2019.
