SIUC, partners set Family Fun Night

CARBONDALE, Ill. – A fun-filled family evening of hayrides, a cookout and yes, even smores, is set this month at Southern Illinois University Carbondale's Touch of Nature Environmental Center.

Family Fun Night is at 6 p.m., Monday, Nov. 6. Families may start arriving after 5 p.m. The free event concludes at about 7:30 p.m. Touch of Nature Environmental Center is a wooded area on the shores of Little Grassy Lake, about seven miles south of Carbondale on Giant City Road.

In addition to the positive family activities, the event includes a bonfire, live disc jockey and door prizes.

The event is part of Family Vacation Nights, a program of the Greater Carbondale Area Safe to Live Coalition. Sponsors include the Illinois Violence Prevention Authority, SIU Credit Union and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Carbondale.

SIUC Touch of Nature Environmental Center, The Women's Center, Adolescent Health Center, Boys and Girls Club of Carbondale, the Southern Illinois Region Social Services' Big Brothers Big Sisters Program, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Carbondale, and the SIU Credit Union are community partners for the event.
