Campus Safety Alert Southern Illinois University Carbondale Oct. 20, 2006

Carbondale, IL -- Southern Illinois University Carbondale police are investigating an attempted battery that occurred at 3:06 a.m. today. 

The victim, an SIUC student, told officers from SIUC's Department of Public Safety that he was walking home near Wright Hall and the south U.S. Highway 51 overpass when two men approached him and started a conversation.  Both men then attempted to strike him, but he successfully avoided their blows.

The men were last seen running under the overpass headed north toward parking lot 14.  The victim described the suspects as a white male with a slim build and blond hair wearing a red shirt, and an African-American male wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt.
