CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Thirty-two graduates of Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Class of 1956 will be inducted into the SIU Alumni Association Half Century Club during SIUC’s Homecoming festivities.

The SIU Alumni Association and University representatives honor members and guests of Southern’s 50th anniversary class and previous Half Century Club inductees at a reunion banquet each year. The class of 1956 will join this prestigious group of alumni.

A reception to honor the class begins at 5:30 p.m., in the John Corker Lounge, followed by dinner at 6:15 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 6, in Ballroom D of the SIUC Student Center. Each class member will receive a membership certificate, commemorative medallion and complimentary photo, along with a nametag featuring their yearbook photo from the year they graduated.

Class members will participate in various activities during Homecoming weekend, including a campus tour, a special luncheon, festivities in the Alumni “Big Tent,” and the Saluki football game against Western Illinois.
