SIUC to hold open house July 21

CARBONDALE, Ill. — Southern Illinois University Carbondale will hold an open house Friday, July 21, at the Student Recreation Center. Students at SIUC choose from more than 200 undergraduate programs or they can customize their own course of study though the University Studies program.

Check-in for the open house begins at 8 a.m. Those who arrive promptly can take the early bird campus tour after checking in.

Activities get under way at 9 a.m. Presentations will focus on the admissions process, financial aid, housing, orientation, scholarships (including those for academically gifted students) and how to find them, and opportunities both for transfer students and for those who have not yet selected a major,

Students who finish undergraduate degrees at SIUC within four years of first enrolling qualify for SIUC's Finish-in-Four $500 scholarship.

Representatives from academic departments and from student support services will be on hand at exhibit booths from 10 to 11:30 a.m., with showcases taking place at the various departments at noon or 1 p.m.

Those who wish to see the new Student Health Center may go on a 20-minute tour that begins at 11 a.m. In addition, guided campus tours will take place at regular intervals between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Housing tours will take place at intervals from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.,
