Slots still available for Women in Engineering

by K.C. Jaehnig

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Slots still remain in Southern Illinois University Carbondale's summer camps for high school junior and senior women interested in engineering careers, but they must apply soon. Applications must be postmarked by April 26.

SIUC’s Women in Engineering summer programs, set for June 11-15 and June 18-22, will give campers an introduction to what engineers in various fields actually do. The camps include classroom activities, hands-on experiments and the opportunity to get to know women already enrolled in the college.

Each camp costs $250, which covers tuition, meals, residence hall room and some medical benefits. Students will receive acceptance notices by May 5.

To download an application, log on to www.engr.siu.edu, scroll down to “Summer Programs” and click on the "Women's Introduction to Engineering Link."
