Cooperative Youth Conference set for June at SIUC

by Carmen Bell

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The Cooperative Youth Conference will be June 8-9 on the Southern Illinois University Carbondale campus. The conference provides high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to learn about the cooperative way of doing business, agricultural careers and college life.

Students will participate in workshops on structure, financing, management and careers in cooperatives led by experienced employees. Also, in a role-playing case study, conference participants will become cooperative managers and directors, learning what it is like to "call the shots."

The conference is co-sponsored each year by SIUC's College of Agricultural Sciences and the Illinois Cooperative Council at no cost to participants. There is a $20 registration deposit that will be refunded upon conference attendance.

For more information contact the SIUC Division of Continuing Education at 618/536-7751 or visit the Web site at www.dce.siu.edu.
