April 7 is deadline for Alumni Award nominations
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The Southern Illinois University Alumni Association is seeking nominations for the 2006 SIU Distinguished Alumni Award.
Recipients will be honored during Homecoming weekend, Oct. 6-7. The deadline for nominations is April 7.
This award honors alumni for distinguished service in their chosen field or profession. Notable achievements include accomplishments in professional organizations and winning prestigious awards or competitions. Alumni who have demonstrated an exemplary history of service to SIUC, which has benefited the University and enhanced educational opportunities for students, are also considered.
If chosen, a framed photograph of the winner, their major, graduation year and career biography will be mounted on the SIU Distinguished Alumni wall in the Student Recreation Center.
Supporting traditions that foster a lifelong attachment to the University is among the goals of Southern at 150: Building Excellence Through Commitment, the blueprint the University is following as it approaches its 150th anniversary in 2019.
