Bay Area chapter hosting dinner reception

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Alumni and friends of Southern Illinois University Carbondale are invited to a dinner reception on March 11 in Santa Clara, Calif. Guests will gather in the The Plaza Suites hotel on Lakeside Drive in Santa Clara.

Activities begin with a social at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. The program follows dinner. SIUC head softball coach Kerri Blaylock will be the guest speaker. The San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of the SIU Alumni Association is hosting the event.

Blaylock has guided her team to three consecutive NCAA Tournament berths.

The Salukis have also won the Missouri Valley Conference championship two years in a row. Southern is playing in the National Invitational Softball Tournament, March 10-12, at the Twin Creeks Sports Complex in Sunnyvale, Calif., just three miles from The Plaza Suites.

The dinner reception menu features Cilantro marinated roasted chicken, garlic mashed potatoes with fresh herb baked tomatoes, tossed green salad, rolls, choice of dessert, coffee, tea, and a cash bar.
