Media Advisory – McLafferty Annex Open House
Reporters, photographers and camera crews are welcome to cover an open house at Southern Illinois University Carbondale's McLafferty annex on Thursday, Jan. 26, from 2 to 4 p.m.
Chancellor Walter V. Wendler and David H. Carlson, dean of library affairs, will be among the speakers during a short program. Refreshments and tours will follow the program.
The 60,000-square-foot McLafferty annex is home to the majority of Morris Library's collection during the three-year renovation and expansion of the library. The annex houses more than 2 million volumes in a moveable, compact, high-density storage system.
When the library project is completed, the annex is designed to become part of the new home for the University's physical plant complex.
The annex is on the west side of McLafferty Road, near the University Press, between Chautauqua Street and Pleasant Hill Road.
