Special cookie cutter available at museum

by Tim Crosby

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The latest work of art at the University Museum will leave a sweet taste in the mouths of Southern Illinois University Carbondale students, faculty, staff and alumni.

Visitors now can purchase this year’s specially commissioned SIUC cookie cutter, which is available at the museum store. This year’s version, designed and manufactured by Elenna Firm of Haxtun, Colo., depicts the distinctive outline of Pulliam Clock Tower, an honored symbol of SIUC.

The museum, located in the north wing of Faner Hall, last year introduced the Saluki dog cookie cutter. Bob DeHoet, museum education coordinator, designed the Saluki cookie cutter, which also is available at the museum store.

The metal cookie cutters are $8 each, plus tax. Limited quantities of both cutters are available. Proceeds go to support the University Museum.

Building relationships among the University and its students and graduates is among the goals of Southern at 150: Building Excellence Through Commitment, the blueprint the University if following as it approaches its 150th anniversary in 2019.
