Judy Shepard appearance rescheduled for Dec. 6

by Tom Woolf

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Judy Shepard will bring her message of tolerance and equality to Southern Illinois University Carbondale at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 6, in the SIUC Student Center, Ballroom D.

Shepard cancelled her Oct. 19 appearance – part of SIUC's Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual/Transgender History month – due to illness.

Her son, Matthew, was the victim of a gay-hate murder seven years ago. Shepard and her husband, Dennis, established the Matthew Shepard Foundation, which works for gay and lesbian equality, hate crime legislation and raising awareness using programs developed by the foundation.
