Media Advisory – Lionel Antoine Relief

A news conference is set for 1:15 p.m. today (Friday, Sept. 30) in the Southern Illinois University Carbondale Student Center's Ohio Room to discuss upcoming fund-raising efforts to assist former SIUC Hall of Fame football player Lionel Antoine. Antoine, a Biloxi, Miss., native – who starred for the Salukis from 1968 to 1972 – and his family are survivors of Hurricane Katrina, but are in desperate and immediate need of assistance. One of SIUC's most honored college football players, Antoine remains the school's highest first-round NFL draft pick when he was selected by the Chicago Bears as the third overall selection in 1972. He played for the Bears from 1972 to 1978.
