Applications available for Pulliam scholarship

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The SIU Alumni Association is accepting applications for the Roscoe Pulliam Memorial Scholarship. Four $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to students currently enrolled at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

Applicants must be a child, grandchild or sibling of an SIUC alumnus or alumna who is a current member of the SIU Alumni Association. All enrolled SIUC undergraduate students who wish to apply must be registered for a minimum of 12 semester hours.

Three letters of recommendation must be submitted to apply for the scholarships. Two of the recommendations need to be from either members of the clergy, SIUC faculty/staff members or persons of responsibility who can account for the student's moral constitution. One recommendation needs to be from the relative holding a current SIU Alumni Association membership who can attest to the student's leadership qualities. Also, the applicant must submit a copy of a SIUC financial aid award letter.

Applicants who are entering freshmen must rank in the upper 10 percent of their high school graduating class. All applicants must have a minimum score of 26 on the ACT exam or 1180 on the SAT. Enrolled students should have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 and provide a current transcript. Transfer students should have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 for all colleges attended and provide all transcripts.
