Alumni Association Banquet will honor Super Students

Southern Illinois University Carbondale Chancellor Walter V. Wendler, the SIU Alumni Association and Student Alumni Council will honor some of the University's finest students at a special dinner Saturday, April 9, on campus.

Chancellor and Mrs. Wendler and the SIU Alumni Association will co-host the annual spring "Super Student Honors Dinner" at 6 p.m. in the Student Center, Ballroom D. The SIU Alumni Association will present Distinguished Senior Awards to 25 outstanding SIUC students. Also, the association will honor two students with Super Student Junior Scholarships, valued at $500 each.

The Association presents Distinguished Senior Award annually to 25 outstanding SIUC students who enrich the University through their involvement in campus activities. In order to qualify for the honor, students must have a minimum grade-point average of 3.0 and be graduating seniors who have contributed to the University and Carbondale community.

Eligibility requirements for the Super Student Scholarship include being currently employed, belonging to at least two Registered Student Organizations, and maintaining a minimum grade-point average of 3.5.
