State Senate president's visit cancelled
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- State Senate President Emil Jones. Jr's appearance at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, set for Wednesday, Feb. 23, has been cancelled.
Jones will attend the wake and funeral service for the son of George P. Shadid, Illinois State Senate assistant majority leader.
Cindy Davidsmeyer, Jones' spokeswoman, said a new date for a visit to SIUC has not been set.
"I know he would very much like to come down. It is just unfortunate that this tragedy had to occur," she said.
