Math teachers conference set for Feb. 17

CARBONDALE, IL -- Southern Illinois University Carbondale will host the Professional Standards for Teaching Mathematics and Assessment Standards conference at the Student Center on Feb. 17 from 8 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.

Presented by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), this event is open to all grade school, high school and college teachers as well as interested college students.

This conference will provide examples of how to implement strategies outlined in the NCTM book "Principles and Standards for School Mathematics" at a grassroots level. It will also demonstrate how educators can transform the teaching and learning of mathematics through the coordinated efforts of teachers, administrators and members of the community.
