Media Advisory: Simulated disaster
Students in an advanced first aid class at Southern Illinois University Carbondale will participate in a simulated disaster involving a car-passenger train collision on Thursday, Dec. 9, at the Amtrak station, 401 S. Illinois Ave. in Carbondale. The exercise will run from 9 to 11 a.m. and will include a variety of agencies: Amtrak, Canadian National Railroad, Illinois Emergency Management Agency, Carbondale police and fire departments, Murphysboro Emergency Service and Disaster Agency, Jackson County Ambulance Service, Jackson County Emergency Management, SIUC Department of Public Safety, SIUC Student Health Programs, SIUC Travel Service, SIUC's theater department, Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, Dowell Fire Department and ARCH Air Medical Service.
Reporters and photographers are welcome to cover the mock disaster.
