Kleinau season opens Saturday, Sept. 4

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Performances by graduate students will open the season at Southern Illinois University Carbondale's Marion Kleinau Theatre on Saturday, Sept. 4.

Admission to the traditional season opener is free. The theater, part of the speech communication department, is on the second floor of the Communications Building.

Each year the theater hosts solo and group performances in the areas of creative adaptations of literature, original scripts, performance art and ethnographic studies among others.

For more information or for ticket reservations please call 618/453-5618. The next Kleinau performance, on Sept. 18, will feature nationally recognized artist Tami Spry.

Expanding cultural outreach is among the goals of Southern at 150: Building Excellence Through Commitment, the blueprint for the development of the University by the time it celebrates its 150th anniversary in 2019.
