SIUC coaches to lead volleyball camps

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Junior high and high school volleyball players may work out with Southern Illinois University Carbondale coaches during summer camps designed specifically for different age groups and specialties.

But hurry to reserve your spot. Registration closes May 25.

Here's the schedule:

  • June 12: Setters and Hitters Clinic, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Davies Gymnasium, $60.

  • July 5-8: High School Camp, 8:30 a.m.-8:30 p.m., SIU Arena, $130 commuters, $180 for resident campers.

  • July 9-12: Team Camp, 8:30 a.m.-8:30 p.m., SIU Arena, $155 commuters, $210 resident campers.

  • July 15-18: Junior High Camp, 8:30 a.m.-8:30 p.m., Student Recreation Center, $130 commuters, $180 for resident campers.

Resident campers receive lodging, residence hall supervision, meals (first day dinner through last day breakfast), coaching, materials and limited accidental medical camper coverage.

Commuters will receive lunch and dinner (when sessions are held following lunch or dinner), coaching, materials, and limited accidental medical camper coverage.

Team camp is open only to high school teams. They will receive instruction in the morning hours and play in competition afternoons and evenings.

Teams must include at least eight and no more than 12 players. The goal of the camp is to improve skills, increase team output and motivate players for the upcoming season.
