Open forums planned for final CASA dean candidate

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Candidate presentations and open forums are set for the last of four finalists for dean of the College of Applied Sciences and Arts at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

Interim Dean Paul D. Sarvela will spend two days interviewing on campus and participating in candidate presentations and forums open to the campus community Monday and Tuesday, April 26 and April 27. Named interim dean in October 2002, Sarvela is completing his 18th year at SIUC.

Sarvela's presentation and open forums are Tuesday, April 27, in the fourth floor Video Lounge at the Student Center. He will present "Charting the Future of CASA: Our Achievements, Our Challenges, and Our Aspirations," at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. One-hour open forums are at 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

The other finalists are Dr. Thomas M. Hassell, professor in the College of Health Professions, Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff; Charles A. Pinder, chairman of the Department of Technology at Northern Kentucky University; and Mary R. Sumner, associate dean of the School of Business at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
