Volunteers sought for clean-up days
CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Beautify Southern Illinois Student Alliance is in search of volunteers willing to spend a few hours outdoors picking up litter. A new registered student organization at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, the group is planning a half-dozen clean-up days this spring.
Individuals and groups are welcome to help out. Organizers would like all participants to e-mail or phone in advance so they can take an accurate head count and order enough free pizzas to feed volunteers afterwards.
Dates, times and towns where the remaining clean-up sessions will take place:
_ Saturday, Feb. 28: 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Carbondale;
_ Saturday, March 20: 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Carbondale;
_ Saturday, April 17: 8 a.m.-noon, Carbondale;
_ Saturday, April 17: 1-3 p.m. at Rend Lake, Murphysboro and Marion;
_ Thursday, April 22: Time to be announced, at SIUC;
_ Saturday, May 1: 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Carbondale.

Participants should meet at 10 a.m. in the SIUC Student Center's Video Lounge, fourth floor, to receive assignments for the Carbondale clean-ups. Call Heil for more information if you wish to work at any of the three out-of-town locations April 17.
