High school students take Accounting Challenge

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- High school students from throughout Southern Illinois will compete in the sixth annual Accounting Challenge on Friday, Feb. 13, at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

The School of Accountancy in SIUC's College of Business and Administration coordinates the event, which runs from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Student Recreation Center.

Reporters and photographers are welcome to cover the Accounting Challenge. The team competition among the participating schools is set for 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

 


Along with participating in a team concept exercise, the juniors and seniors will demonstrate their knowledge of basic and advanced accounting principles as they compete for $2,000 in scholarships to the University. Sponsorship comes from the School of Accountancy and the Accounting Circle, comprised of alumni and friends of the school.

There will be more than 140 students competing this year.
