CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Kindergarten and first-grade students in Murphysboro will learn about the importance of riding in booster seats during an interactive program set for 12:15-2:15 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 9. The program, at the Gen. John A. Logan Attendance Center, on North 14th Street, is the culmination of a month of traffic safety activities. Jahari E. Piersol, coordinator in the Southern Illinois Regional Child Passenger Safety Resource Center, headquartered at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, is conducting Tuesday's program as part of an educational awareness effort. As of Jan. 1, all children under the age of 8 must be properly restrained in a child safety seat.
